ADULT SUNDAY LIFE GROUPS (SCHOOL CLASSES)
Below is a listing of the classes that will be offered for adults at 9:15 on Sunday mornings:
FOUNDATIONS — Karen Nachtigal
The Foundations Sunday School class is doing a study of the book “The Untold Story of the New Testament Church – Acts” led by Karen Nachtigal, Room 404.
QUA-CURS — Arlice Davenport
At Northridge Friends Church, we are serious about creating a culture of care in which we all minister to the needs and interests of one another. The foundation for this culture is the Great Commandment in Luke 10:27: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind. And love your neighbor as yourself.”
But what does it mean to love your neighbor as yourself? Can Christian love be commanded? Can love be a duty? And exactly who is my neighbor? Is it anyone close at hand? Is it the threatening stranger? Is it my family and friends? And what constitutes a proper self-love? How can I distinguish it from selfishness?
These are all serious questions that form the backbone of “Works of Love,” Soren Kierkegaard’s masterpiece of Christian ethics.
In October, the Qua-Curs Sunday School class will begin a careful study of this book, about which one contemporary scholar has said, “There is really nothing comparable to this work in the history of Christian thought.”
We will have a general introduction to the book on Oct. 9, then start our study in earnest on Oct. 16. The Qua-Curs Sunday School class meets at 9:15 a.m. in Room 501.
If you think you would be enriched and edified by sharing in our exploration of this challenging work, please contact Arlice Davenport at 265-8099 or .
KUMJOINUS — Inez Smith

Leaving them in classrooms or on the TV carts causes great confusion! Anyone with questions or movies to donate can call Ruth Binford for more information, 265-6421.
